The point of the exercise was to understand the differences between each standard on neutrally comparable bikes There's a few potential sizing factors for 27.5 vs 29. One is inseam and buzzing the rear tire. I'm a 6'5" former bmx rider and occasionally will tuck the bike enough on jumps to buzz my butt (not a real problem though). The buzzing becomes a problem when you can't avoid it and that's partially due to inseam and maybe due to technique. I think that the 27.5+ wheel size platform would be more versatile for everyday trail riding. It is fun and playful. While the 1120 is no doubt a neat bike that can roll over a tree without flinching, it is far less practical for your local MTB trail. 29+ really shines for bike-packing but can be a little too bouncy for mountain biking. I have also never ridden an mtb with 27.5" or 29" wheels and of course the difference between 26" and 27.5" or even 29" wouldn't be as dramatic as between 20" and 26". [Reply] 2 0 2. On a more technical climb, the 27.5ers may allow you to roll over some things that you'd need to lift/hop over with 26ers and therefore be better at climbing. Reply. Suspension tech: Despite what some folks are saying here- suspension tech has NOT changed that much. Especially when comparing top end stuff vs current lower end. Wheel size: 26" wheel are not that much different than 27.5". 26" wheels are only ~1in smaller than "27.5". In reality they are 584mm and 559mm diameter (1" different). .
